Procurement

AHDB is firmly committed to openness, fairness and transparency in selecting all of its suppliers of goods and services. It must do this as a matter of law under the Public Contracts Regulations 2006, and this approach will also enable us to develop a ‘most economically advantageous’ supply system and maximise our use of levy funds.

AHDB has Standard Terms and Conditions that apply to all its contracts (or agreements) for the purchase of Goods and Services. These may be updated at any time by publication on this website and contracts are made applying the version current at the time of contracting. Suppliers are responsible for keeping themselves aware of changes. The current version applies from 12 April 2010. Previous versions can be obtained on request to the Legal Adviser at legal@ahdb.org.uk

ACTIVE INVITATIONS TO TENDER (below)

Inoculated Disease Trials

The HGCA Recommended Lists for cereals and oilseeds are the definitive industry guide to cereal and oilseed varieties, giving levy-payers the information they need to select the correct variety for their businesses. The data from which the Recommended Lists are produced are based on the evaluation of field performance and quality characteristics of a range of varieties of crops under cultivation in the UK.

Disease ratings are based on a combination of data from natural infection, recorded in field trials located within commercial crops and special inoculated plots. This tender covers the inoculated disease tests: the growing of plots, disease inoculation, recording of disease and the submission of data. It does not cover the co-ordination of the testing programme, the analysis of disease data or the calculation of disease ratings.

Details of packages

The work is being offered in packages:

Package 1: Primary rust package, including multiplication of inoculum.

Package 2: Rust site 2. Inoculum to be provided by package 1 successful tenderer.

Package 3: Primary package non-rust diseases including multiplication of inoculum.

Package 4: Non-rust diseases site 2 including multiplication of inoculum.

Tenderers are invited to tender for one or more packages; the contracts will commence August 2012 and continue until October 2016.

Interested parties should request a tender pack via email to procurement@ahdb.org.uk.

Please note that the deadline for receipt of tender submissions is 2pm Friday 29 June 2012.

Monitoring of Mycotoxins & Contaminants in UK Cereals (used in malting, milling and animal feed)

HGCA has been valued by the industry for its independent work on agrochemical residues and contaminants. The new HGCA ‘Investing in Innovation‘ Research and Transfer Strategy (2011-14) has highlighted the need for continued investment in ensuring the safety and quality of the major UK cereals for human consumption and animal feed. Such an activity falls into two of the four key objectives within the new Strategy ? Increasing Crop Value and Preparing the Industry. Furthermore, recent industry consultations have highlighted:

  • The importance of continued monitoring of contaminants in cereals across the supply chain.
  • The importance of optimising market opportunities for improving the end-use quality of food and feed crops.
  • The need to help the UK supply chain to prepare for new legislation and growing demands on supply.

HGCA is looking for a tenderer to continue and develop the current study over the next 4 years (August 2012 to July 2016).

Interested parties should request a tender pack via email to procurement@ahdb.org.uk. Please note that the deadline for receipt of tender submissions is 2pm Thursday 5 July 2012.

Disease Test Co-ordination

The HGCA Recommended Lists (RL) for cereals and oilseeds are the definitive industry guide to cereal and oilseed varieties, giving levy-payers the information they need to select the correct variety for their businesses. The data underpinning the Recommended Lists are based on the evaluation of field performance of a range of varieties of crops under cultivation in the UK. Genetic resistance to plant diseases is an important character and this is assessed on plots through natural infection and also on small plots inoculated with specific diseases and grown in a controlled environment to maximise the chance of disease development. Over-years data from natural infection and inoculated plots are used to determine 1 to 9 ratings that are used to describe resistance on the RL tables.

This tender covers the provision of pathology expertise and assistance to the RL Team in the production of disease ratings for cereals and oilseeds from August 2012 to October 2017, covering harvests 2013 to 2017.

Interested parties must request a tender pack via email from procurement@ahdb.org.uk. Please note that the deadline for receipt of tender submissions is 2pm Tuesday 19 June 2012.

Winter Oilseed Crop Trials

The HGCA Recommended List system identifies and recommends appropriate cereal and oilseed-rape varieties for different market sectors of the industry and ensures that these recommendations are publicised. It operates impartially and seeks the involvement of all significant sectors of the industry in making its recommendations in the interests of the industry as a whole.

AHDB, operating through its HGCA Division, is offering for tender five oilseed rape variety crop trials in four packages in Northern Britain. These trials will contain National List varieties and are intended to augment the early-stage data provided by the BSPB National List trial series in the HGCA North region. Tenders are invited from single operators or consortia for work to be undertaken over a period of four years.

Interested parties should request a tender pack via email to procurement@ahdb.org.uk. Please note that the deadline for receipt of tender submissions is 5pm Tuesday 22 May 2012.
